The Tasmanian Blue Gum, which is Tasmania’s floral emblem, is also a vital source of nectar for the endangered Swift Parrot.
This specimen comes from a lovely old tree growing in Woodbridge in southern Tasmania. After I had painted this work, I was intrigued to observe that the blossoms turned colour from creamy white to pink as they aged. Unfortunately I did not capture this colour change in this work.
