Peter Dombrovskis - Bark of Snowgum

Bark of Snowgum, Du Cane Range - Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park

Rain heightens colours on the crumpled bark of a sub-alpine snowgum. Such trees, typically growing at the highest altitude before the true alpine (treeless) zone, may be centuries old, sharing the landscape with paleoendemic pencil or King Billy pines.
