The Blue Gum is Tasmania’s floral emblem and its nectar is a major food source for the endangered Swift parrot. Its long, sickle-shaped leaves exude a strong scent of eucalyptus and the large cream flowers produce copious nectar.
The tree, which can grow to 45 metres, was first described and collected in 1792 by the French naturalist, JJH Labillardiere, a member of the Bruni D’Entrecasteaux expedition.
The specimen depicted in this artwork grows in Woodbridge, a small village in southern Tasmania. 

Sylvie Gerozisis is a Tasmanian Botanical Artist, whose work also extends to Tasmanian wildlife subjects and landscapes.
She studied Fine Arts at Sydney University and Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, and has taught Visual Art as well as Design and Technology.
Sylvie works almost exclusively in watercolour, and her artwork often incorporates distinctive elements of pattern and design, which relate strongly to the particular subject.
She has exhibited widely over the years and her artwork is held in private collections throughout Australia.
The artwork is printed on 100% cotton rag archival paper. All prints have been personally checked and hand signed by the artist.
