Shell Drop Necklace

Ruth Evenhuis Designs

The Shell Drop Necklace takes inspiration from oceanic treasures found in and around rock pools. It is the perfect pieces for land-mermaids.

The necklace is handmade from ethically sourced sterling silver on a 60 cm chain, featuring a cast silver scallop shell fragment,  suspended from a wobbly rock pool shape and a handmade s-hook clasp at the front.

Ruth Evenhuis Designs

Ruth’s creative journey began by completing a double degree in Arts (jewellery design) and Business Studies at Charles Sturt University. During her studies, one of her designs was showcased in the Powerhouse Museum exhibition in Sydney.
Ruth decided to move back to the coast and her hometown in Tasmania to focus on her business, Ruth Evenhuis Designs. The ocean, a constant inspiration for her work, evokes the dreamy, decidedly oceanic, wobbly, watery shapes and a peaceful fluidity. Working with reclaimed sea glass collected by hand from the beach, she considers the forms and textures the ocean has carved, allowing each piece to be one of a kind.
As an artist and a maker, her practice will keep evolving, but her commitment to creating unique, responsible, considered pieces will never change.
Ruth strives to minimise harm to the environment, reducing waste whenever possible, using ethically sourced metals, reclaimed materials, recycled paper and plastic free eco packaging.

Ruth loves the natural environment and donates $2 from each jewellery piece in her Tassie range sold to the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO). EDO is the largest environmental legal centre in the Australia-Pacific, dedicated to protecting our climate, communities and the shared environment by providing access to justice, running groundbreaking litigation and leading law reform advocacy. Head to the EDO website for more information.
