Pandani and deciduous beech after leaf-fall, Tasmania

A lone pandani grows within a thicket of endemic deciduous beech in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. Australia’s only winter-deciduous tree, the ‘fagus’ sheds its leaves in late April, with new leaf-burst in mid to late October.
