Bending Down & Looking Up embodies the joy of being saturated in Tasmania’s lush landscape as I’ve made this island my home over the past four years. This collection commemorates the passionate connection I've formed with the land – and the ways its contours have shaped me.
Born from long morning walks in the hills of the Huon Valley and slow wanderings through eucalyptus groves, these paintings have emerged from an ever-growing curiosity as I absorb the colours, forms, and textures of Tasmania’s richly diverse environment.
Each piece celebrates an element of the landscape that has captured my attention and encouraged my roots to grow: luminous, sunlit leaves, ever-changing blue mountains, curving branches, wild skies — all found within a few steps of my front door.
Tasmania’s boundless wilderness has invited me to notice beauty and to revel in the unknown; to linger a little longer, until the new becomes familiar and the foreign becomes home.
Eleanor Ann Kramer Artist Bio:
Eleanor's reverence for landscape was shaped throughout her childhood living in a variety of environments around the globe. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bethel University in Saint Paul, USA, where she earned the Cameron Booth Painting Award and the Raspberry Monday Award for dedication & excellence.
In 2022, Eleanor relocated to Tasmania, Australia. Invigorated by this new terrain, her passion and skill in landscape painting took on new depth. She paints from observation, working en plein air or ensconced in her small, rural studio. Eleanor’s work has been displayed at CuckoO Gallery, Wild Island Gallery, local art festivals, and was awarded a finalist in the 2025 Henry Jones Art Prize. Her paintings are held in private collections across Australia and internationally.
