This painting, (a view of Cape Queen Elizabeth and its Houndstooth), was composed from a vantage point at the base of Fluted Cape, near Adventure Bay, and takes in a small part of Penguin Island.
The beauty of Bruny Island is particularly evident in the early morning along the coast, when the light reflects a kaleidoscope of patterns - of trees and rocks and water, and evokes a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
In this artwork, a pattern of geometric abstraction encompasses the landscape, referencing the mineral structure of rock within it. Pattern is interwoven with 'representationalism' in an attempt to depict the complexity of the simple beauty of Nature on Bruny Island.
