Summit 2 is the second in Grace's series of linocuts exploring the otherworldly landscape at the summit of kunanyi Mount Wellington. Almost alien, it is dominated by large boulders and alpine vegetation. The often startling colours and textures of this alpine environment are the subject of this series of linocuts. In Summit 2, the late afternoon light deepens the shadows between the rocks. It’s winter and a collection of snow glows in the foreground.
This linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 50cm (20") high, not including signature. The paper is slightly larger. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 20. The artist uses oil-based printing and prints on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is hand printed and individually painted with watercolour.
