White-faced heron, Pilitika / Robbins Island
Rob Blakers
Archival inkjet print on platine fibre rag
61 x 31cm
The extensive wetlands and sand-flats that surround Pilitika / Robbins Island are home to more resident and migratory shorebirds and waterbirds than the rest of Tasmania combined. Flocks of several dozen herons may be regularly observed, foraging and flying over exposed mudflats, and roosting in tree-tops in adjacent woodland.
