Lisa Moroney is a painter based in Hobart and the midlands where she operates a sheep farm along side her husband. Time spent in the midlands is the inspiration for her landscape paintings of paddocks, old trees and big skies. Each painting starts with a considered drawing, following the principle that good drawing and composition are the basis of a good painting. Colour is used to enhance the definition of the observed space and form.
Lisa studied at the University of Tasmania, School of Creative Arts, Graduating in 2014, majoring in painting. Lisa has since participated in painting workshops at the National Art School, Sydney. She has been included in many group shows in Hobart since this time and has shown her work in commercial galleries.
Lisa was also a finalist in the 2020 Glover Prize for contemporary landscape painting.
