Jon Bryan Diving deep and rising up against the rise of the urchin barrens
Jon Bryan is a marine biologist who has logged over 4000 dives for research and to take photographs, including deep technical dives using closed circuit re-breathers and exotic gases. He was deeply involved with the campaign to stop the super trawler and is a member of all Tasmanian Government Fishery Advisory Committees. Jon has dived on every continent except Africa, and still regularly dives to make photographs in the waters around Tasmania.
Jon will compare Tasmanian marine environments to other parts of the world, describe some of Tasmania's marine life and underwater habitats, and talk about shifting baselines, over fishing and urchin barrens.
All are welcome - questions and discussion will be an integral part of each presentation.
